فلما رأى إبراهيم أنَّ أيديهم لا تصل إلى العجل، وأنهم لم يأكلوا منه _استنكر ذلك منهم، وأخفى في نفسه الخوف منهم_، فلما رأت الملائكة خوفه منهم قالوا: لا تخف منا، نحن بَعثنا الله إلى قوم لوط لنعذبهم.

فَلَمَّا رَءَآ أَيْدِيَهُمْ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَيْهِ نَكِرَهُمْ وَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً ۚ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِ لُوطٍ
When he saw their hands not reaching the food[37], he became suspicious and felt scared of them. They said, “Do not be scared. We have been sent to the people of Lot.”
