لِلْفُقَرَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أُحْصِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ضَرْبًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَحْسَبُهُمُ ٱلْجَاهِلُ أَغْنِيَآءَ مِنَ ٱلتَّعَفُّفِ تَعْرِفُهُم بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ لَا يَسْـَٔلُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا ۗ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا۟ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِهِۦ عَلِيمٌ
[Charity is] for the poor who are fully occupied in the cause of Allah, unable to move about in the land [for livelihood]; the one who is unaware would think that they are rich because of their self-restraint. You will recognize them by their appearance. They do not ask people importunately. And whatever wealth you give, then Allah is All-Knowing of it.

اجعلوها للفقراء الذين _منعهم الجهاد_ في سبيل الله من _السفر_ طلبًا للرزق، يظنهم الجاهل بحالهم أغنياء لتعففهم عن السؤال، ويعرفهم المطلع عليهم _بعلاماتهم_، من الحاجة الظاهرة على أجسامهم وثيابهم، ومن صفاتهم أنهم ليسوا كسائر الفقراء الذين يسألون الناس _مُلِحِّين_ في مسألتهم، وما تنفقوا من مال وغيره فإن الله به عليم، وسيجازيكم عليه أعظم الجزاء.
