إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ عَلَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلَ أَهْلَهَا شِيَعًا يَسْتَضْعِفُ طَآئِفَةً مِّنْهُمْ يُذَبِّحُ أَبْنَآءَهُمْ وَيَسْتَحْىِۦ نِسَآءَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
Indeed, Pharaoh arrogantly elevated himself in the land and divided its people into different factions; oppressing one group of them[2], slaughtering their sons and sparing their women alive[3]. He was truly one of those who spread corruption.

إن فرعون _طغى_ في أرض مصر، وتسلط فيها، وصيّر أهلها _طوائف_ مفرِّقًا بينها، يستضعف طائفة منهم، وهم بنو إسرائيل، بقتل ذكور أولادهم _واستبقاء نسائهم_ للخدمة إمعانًا في إذلالهم، إنه كان من المفسدين في الأرض بالظلم والطغيان والتكبر.
