أَلَمْ يَأْتِهِمْ نَبَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَقَوْمِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَأَصْحَـٰبِ مَدْيَنَ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتِ ۚ أَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ ۖ فَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
Have they not received the stories of those who came before them: the people of Noah, ‘Ād, Thamūd, the people of Abraham, the dwellers of Midian, and the overturned cities [of Lot]? Their messengers came to them with clear signs. It was not Allah who wronged them, but it was they who wronged themselves.

ألم يأت هؤلاء المنافقين خبرُ ما فعلتْه الأممُ المكذِّبة، وما فُعِل بها من عقاب: قوم نوح، وقوم هود، وقوم صالح، وقوم إبراهيم، وأصحاب مدين، _وقرى قوم لوط_؛ جاءتهم رسلهم _بالبراهين الواضحة والحجج الجلية_، فما كان الله ليظلمهم؛ فقد أنذرتهم رسلهم، ولكن كانوا أنفسهم يظلمون بما كانوا عليه من الكفر بالله وتكذيب رسله.
