إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ عَلَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلَ أَهْلَهَا شِيَعًا يَسْتَضْعِفُ طَآئِفَةً مِّنْهُمْ يُذَبِّحُ أَبْنَآءَهُمْ وَيَسْتَحْىِۦ نِسَآءَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
নিশ্চয় ফির‘আউন (মিশরে) জমিনের বুকে স্বৈরাচারী ও অহংকারী হয়েছিলো এবং তার অধিবাসীকে নানা দলে বিভক্ত করেছিলো। তাদের একদলকে (বানূ ইসরাঈলকে) সে দুর্বল করে রেখেছিলো, যাদের পুত্রদেরকে সে হত্যা করতো আর (তাদেরকে লাঞ্ছিত করার জন্য) কন্যা সন্তানদেরকে বাঁচিয়ে রাখতো। নিশ্চয় সে ছিলো বিপর্যয় সৃষ্টিকারীদের অন্যতম।

Indeed Pharaoh ruled over Egypt, acting tyranically therein. He divided its people into groups and oppressing a certain group - which were the Children of Israel - killing their male children and letting the females live, to exploit and humiliate them. Indeed he was one who caused corruption on Earth through oppression, tyranny and arrogance.
