Era and setting

His birth is announced when his parents are old, without a calendar year.

The angelic visit brings news of Ishaq and, after him, Yaqub. This generational relationship establishes relative chronology.

He is included among leaders guiding by Allah’s command.

Family and descent

Ibrahim is his father, Yaqub his son and Yusuf his grandson.

His mother is known as Sarah. Quran and the hadith of Yusuf’s ancestry establish this line; the principal verses do not give a complete household list.

The birth announcement names Yaqub after Ishaq, pointing beyond one child to a continuing prophetic line. Al-Anbiya’s description of guiding leaders connects that family relationship with religious responsibility.

Distinctions and signs

His announcement includes prophethood and righteousness.

Blessing is pronounced on him and Ibrahim, while descendants are distinguished by conduct. Family honour does not erase individual moral responsibility.
