Al-Buruj

By the sky full of constellations,

গ্রহ-নক্ষত্র শোভিত আসমানের শপথ!

and by the promised Day,

আর প্রতিশ্রুত দিনের শপথ!

and by the witness and the witnessed,

আর শপথ সাক্ষ্যদাতার (নবীর) এবং যার ব্যাপারে সাক্ষ্য দেয়া হবে তার (উম্মতের)!(১)

(১) কেউ কেউ বলেছেন: شاهد এর অর্থ শুক্রবার দিন এবং مشهود এর অর্থ আরাফার দিন।

cursed be the makers of the trench[1],

[1] Those who worked for a tyrannical king and did not allow the people to believe in Allah. Their blind obedience to their ruler incurred upon them the curse of Allah.

ধ্বংস হয়েছে গর্তের অধিপতিরা,(২)

(২) অর্থাৎ যারা বড় বড় গর্তের মধ্যে আগুন জ্বালিয়ে ঈমানদারদেরকে পুড়িয়ে হত্যা করেছিল।

the fire full of fuel,

(যে কুণ্ডে ছিলো) ইন্ধনপূর্ণ আগুন।

when they sat around it,

যখন তারা অগ্নিভরা কুণ্ডের কিনারায় উপবিষ্ট ছিলো।

and were witnessing what they did to the believers[2].

[2] After the believers were casted into a trench of fire, they sat around it watching them burn to death. It occurred long before Prophet Muhammad's (ﷺ) time.

আর মুমিনদের সাথে তারা যা করছিল তার প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী ছিলো।(৩)

(৩) অর্থাৎ মু’মিনদেরকে যে শাস্তি দিচ্ছিলো, তারা তার ওপর নিজেরাই সাক্ষী ছিল।

Their only grievance against them was that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, the Praiseworthy,

আর তারা মু’মিনদেরকে নির্যাতন করেছিল শুধুমাত্র এ কারণে যে, তারা মহাপরাক্রমশালী প্রশংসিত আল্লাহর প্রতি ঈমান এনেছিলো।

to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and earth, and Allah is Witness over all things.

(সেই আল্লাহ) যিনি আসমানসমূহ ও জমিনের সর্বময় কর্তৃত্বের একচ্ছত্র অধিপতি। আর আল্লাহ প্রতিটি বিষয়ের প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী।

Indeed, for those who tortured the believing men and women, and then did not repent, there will be the punishment of Hell and the punishment of the burning fire[3].

[3] Those who burned the believers will be punished with the burning fire in the Hereafter.

নিশ্চয় যারা মু’মিন পুরুষ ও মু’মিন নারীদেরকে (এক আল্লাহর উপর ঈমান আনার কারণে)শাস্তি দিয়েছে, তারপর তারা (এ অন্যায়ের জন্য) তাওবা করে নি, তাদের জন্য রয়েছে জাহান্নামের শাস্তি। উপরন্তু তাদের জন্য রয়েছে আগুনে দগ্ধ হওয়ার শাস্তি।

But those who believed and did righteous deeds will certainly have gardens under which rivers flow; that is the supreme triumph.

নিশ্চয় যারা ঈমান এনেছে এবং সৎকর্ম করেছে, তাদের জন্য রয়েছে জান্নাত; যার তলদেশে প্রবাহিত হবে ঝর্ণাসমূহ। এটাই বিরাট সফলতা।

Indeed, the punishment of your Lord is severe.

নিশ্চয় তোমার রবের পাকড়াও বড়ই কঠিন।

Indeed, it is He Who originates [the creation] and then resurrects all,

নিশ্চয় তিনি সৃষ্টির সূচনা করেন এবং তিনিই এগুলো পুনরায় সৃষ্টি করবেন।

and He is the All-Forgiving, the Most Affectionate,

আর তিনি অত্যন্ত ক্ষমাশীল, প্রেমময়।

the Lord of the Glorious Throne;

মহা সম্মানিত আরশের অধিপতি,

He does whatever He wills.

তিনি তা-ই করেন, যা তিনি চান।

Has there not come to you the story of the forces

হে রাসূল! তোমার কাছে কি সৈন্যবাহিনীর সংবাদ পৌঁছেছে?

of Pharaoh and Thamūd?

ফির‘আউন ও সামূদের?

But the disbelievers are in persistent denial,

বরং কাফিররা মিথ্যারোপে লিপ্ত।

although Allah encompasses them from all sides.

আর আল্লাহ তাদের পেছন দিক থেকে তাদেরকে পরিবেষ্টন করে রেখেছেন।

But this is a glorious Qur’an,

বরং এটা সম্মানিত আল-কুরআন।

[inscribed] in a Preserved Tablet.

সুরক্ষিত ফলকে (আল-লাওহুল মাহফূযে) লিপিবদ্ধ।
