Az-Zumar

then on the Day of Resurrection, you will dispute with one another before your Lord.

তারপর হে মানুষ! নিশ্চয় তোমরা কিয়ামতের দিন তোমাদের রবের সামনে পরস্পর বাক-বিতণ্ডা করবে।(১৯)

(১৯) ফলে হকপন্থী আর বাতিলপন্থীর মধ্যে পার্থক্য সুস্পষ্ট হয়ে পড়বে।

Who is then more unjust than he who tells lies about Allah and rejects the truth when it comes to him? Is there no abode for the disbelievers in Hell?

সুতরাং তার চেয়ে অধিক যালিম আর কে হতে পারে , যে আল্লাহর উপর মিথ্যারোপ করে(২০) এবং তার কাছে সত্য (দ্বীন) আসার পরও তা অস্বীকার করে? জাহান্নামই কি কাফিরদের আবাসস্থল নয়?

(২০) অর্থাৎ আল্লাহর সাথে কাউকে অংশীদার, স্ত্রী ও সন্তানের সম্বন্ধ যুক্ত করে শিরক করে।

But the one who came with the truth [i.e., the prophet] and [those who] believed in it, it is they who are the righteous.

পক্ষান্তরে (নবীগণ) যে সত্য (দ্বীন) নিয়ে এসেছে এবং যে ব্যক্তি তা সত্য বলে মেনে নিয়েছে , তারাই মুত্তাকী।

They will have with their Lord whatever they wish for. Such is the reward of those who do good.

তাদের জন্য তাদের রবের কাছে তা-ই রয়েছে যা তারা চাইবে। এটাই সৎকর্মশীলদের প্রতিদান।

And Allah will absolve them of their worst deeds and reward them according to the best of what they used to do.

যাতে তারা (দুনিয়াতে) যেসব মন্দ কাজ করেছিল, আল্লাহ তা ক্ষমা করে দেন এবং তারা যে সর্বোত্তম আমল করত, তার প্রতিদানে তাদেরকে (পরকালে) পুরস্কৃত করেন।

Is Allah not sufficient for His slave? Yet they frighten you with those [whom they worship] besides Him. Whoever Allah causes to stray, there is none to guide him.

আল্লাহ কি তাঁর বান্দা (মুহাম্মাদ)-এর জন্য যথেষ্ট নন? অথচ তারা তোমাকে আল্লাহর পরিবর্তে অন্যদের (২১) ভয় দেখায়। আর আল্লাহ যাকে পথভ্রষ্ট করেন, তার জন্য কোন হিদায়াতকারী নেই।

(২১) দেবতাদের পক্ষ থেকে ক্ষতির।

And whoever Allah guides, none can lead him astray. Is not Allah All-Mighty, Capable of Retribution?

আর আল্লাহ যাকে হিদায়াত করেন, তার জন্য কোন পথভ্রষ্টকারী নেই। আল্লাহ কি মহাপরাক্রমশালী প্রতিশোধ গ্রহণকারী নন?

If you ask them who created the heavens and earth, they will surely say, “Allah.” Say, “Then tell me about those whom you supplicate besides Allah; if Allah wills to harm me, can they remove His harm? Or if He wills mercy for me, can they withhold His mercy?” Say, “Allah is sufficient for me; in Him alone do the reliant put their trust.”

হে রাসূল! তুমি যদি তাদেরকে জিজ্ঞাসা কর, কে আসমানসমূহ ও জমিন সৃষ্টি করেছেন? তারা অবশ্যই বলবে: ‘আল্লাহ’। হে রাসূল! বলো: ‘তোমরা কি ভেবে দেখেছ- আল্লাহ আমার কোন ক্ষতি চাইলে, তোমরা আল্লাহর পরিবর্তে যাদেরকে ডাক, তারা কি সেই ক্ষতি দূর করতে পারবে? অথবা তিনি আমাকে রহমত করতে চাইলে, তারা সেই রহমত বারণ করতে পারবে?! বলো: ‘আমার জন্য আল্লাহই যথেষ্ট।’ তাওয়াক্কুলকারীগণ তাঁর ওপরই তাওয়াক্কুল করে।

Say, “O my people, carry on as you are, and so will I. You will come to know

হে রাসূল! বলো, ‘হে আমার জাতি! তোমরা স্ব স্ব অবস্থানে কাজ করে যাও, নিশ্চয় আমিও আমার কাজ করব। অতঃপর শীঘ্রই তোমরা জানতে পারবে।’(২২)

(২২) অর্থাৎ যখন আল্লাহর শাস্তি আসবে, তখন আমাদের মধ্যে কে হকপথে আছে, আর কে বাতিল পথে আছে, কে পথভ্রষ্ট আর কে সঠিক পথে আছে, তা তখনই জানা যাবে।

who will receive a humiliating punishment, and upon whom will descend an everlasting punishment.”

কার ওপর (দুনিয়াতে) লাঞ্ছনাদায়ক শাস্তি নেমে আসবে এবং কার ওপর (পরকালে) স্থায়ী শাস্তি আপতিত হবে?

We have sent down to you the Book with the truth for all mankind. Whoever follows the guidance, it is to his own benefit, and whoever goes astray, it is only to his own loss. You are not a keeper over them.

হে রাসূল! নিশ্চয় আমি মানবজাতির জন্য তোমার প্রতি যথাযথভাবে এ কিতাব আল কুরআন নাযিল করেছি। তাই যে সৎপথ অবলম্বন করে, সে তা নিজের জন্যই করে এবং যে পথভ্রষ্ট হয় সে নিজের ক্ষতির জন্যই পথভ্রষ্ট হয়। আর তুমি তাদের তত্ত্বাবধায়ক নও।(২৩)

(২৩) অর্থাৎ তাদেরকে হিদায়াত গ্রহণে বাধ্য করতে দায়িত্বশীল নও; বরং তাদের কাছে আল্লাহর ওহী পৌঁছানোই তোমার দায়িত্ব।

Allah takes away the souls at the time of their death and of those who do not die during their sleep. He withholds the souls of those on whom He has decreed death and releases others until an appointed term. Indeed, there are signs in this for people who reflect.

আল্লাহ জীবসমূহের প্রাণ হরণ করেন তাদের মৃত্যুর সময় এবং যারা মরেনি তাদের নিদ্রার সময়। তারপর যার জন্য তিনি মৃত্যুর ফয়সালা করেন, তার প্রাণ তিনি রেখে দেন এবং অন্যগুলো ফিরিয়ে দেন একটি নির্দিষ্ট সময় পর্যন্ত। নিশ্চয় এতে চিন্তাশীল সম্প্রদায়ের জন্য অনেক নিদর্শন রয়েছে।(২৪)

(২৪) অর্থাৎ যিনি এ সব কিছু করতে সক্ষম, তিনি মানুষকে তাদের মৃত্যুর পর হিসাব ও প্রতিদানের জন্য পুনরুত্থানেও সক্ষম।

Or have they taken besides Allah others as intercessors? Say, “Even though they have no power nor do they understand?”

তবে কি তারা আল্লাহ ছাড়া অন্যদেরকে সুপারিশকারী গ্রহণ করেছে? হে রাসূল! তুমি (তাদেরকে) বলো: ‘তারা কোন কিছুর মালিক না হলেও এবং তারা না বুঝলেও? (২৫)

(২৫) তখনও কি তোমরা তাদেরকে সুপারিশকারী হিসাবে গ্রহণ করবে?

Say, “All intercession belongs to Allah alone. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and earth, then to Him you will be returned.”

হে রাসূল! তুমি (তাদেরকে) বলো: ‘সকল সুপারিশ আল্লাহর জন্য নির্ধারিত। আসমানসমূহ ও জমিনের রাজত্ব একমাত্র তাঁরই। তারপর (২৬) তোমরা তাঁর কাছেই প্রত্যাবর্তিত হবে।’

(২৬) হিসাব ও প্রতিদানের জন্যে কিয়ামত দিবসে।

When Allah alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with aversion, but as soon as those other than Him are mentioned, they rejoice.

যখন আল্লাহকে এককভাবে স্মরণ করা হয়, তখন যারা আখিরাতে বিশ্বাস করে না, তাদের অন্তর সংকুচিত হয়ে যায়। পক্ষান্তরে আল্লাহ ছাড়া অন্য উপাস্যগুলোর কথা বলা হলে তখনই তারা আনন্দে উৎফুল হয়।

Say, “O Allah, Originator of the heavens and earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, it is you who will judge between Your slaves concerning that over which they used to differ.

হে রাসূল! বলো: ‘হে আল্লাহ, আসমানসমূহ ও জমিনের স্রষ্টা, গায়িব ও উপস্থিত বিষয়াদির জ্ঞানী; তুমি তোমার বান্দাদের মধ্যে ফয়সালা করে দিবে, যাতে তারা মতবিরোধ করছে।’(২৭)

(২৭) ফলে হকপন্থী আর বাত্বিলপন্থী এবং সৌভাগ্যবান আর হতভাগার মধ্যে পার্থক্য সুস্পষ্ট হয়ে যাবে।

If the wrongdoers were to possess all that is on earth and the like of it, they would surely offer it to ransom themselves from the terrible punishment on the Day of Resurrection. There will appear to them from Allah what they had never anticipated[12].

[12] Of Allah’s anger and punishment.

আর যারা (২৮) যুলম করেছে, যদি জমিনে যা আছে, তা সব এবং এর সমপরিমাণ সম্পদও তাদের জন্য হয়; তবে কিয়ামতের দিন কঠিন শাস্তি থেকে রক্ষা পেতে মুক্তিপণস্বরূপ তারা তা দিয়ে দিবে।(২৯) সেখানে আল্লাহর কাছে থেকে তাদের জন্য এমন কিছু (নানা ধরনের শাস্তি) প্রকাশিত হবে, যা তারা কখনো কল্পনাও করত না।

(২৮) শিরক ও পাপাচারের মাধ্যমে। (২৯) কিন্তু তারা এসবের মালিক হবে ধরে নেয়া হলেও তাদের পক্ষ থেকে তা গ্রহণ করা হবে না এবং তারা কঠিন শাস্তি থেকে রক্ষাও পাবে না।

The evil consequences of their deeds will become apparent to them, and they will be overwhelmed by what they used to ridicule.

আর তারা যা অর্জন করেছিল, তার মন্দ ফল (শাস্তি) তাদের কাছে প্রকাশ হয়ে পড়বে এবংতারা যা নিয়ে ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রুপ করত, তা-ই তাদেরকে পরিবেষ্টন করবে।

When adversity befalls man, he cries out to Us. Then when We grant him a favor from Us, he says, “I have been granted this only because of my knowledge.” It is rather a test, but most of them do not know.

অতঃপর যখন কোন বিপদাপদ (অবিশ্বাসী) মানুষকে স্পর্শ করে, তখন সে আমাকে ডাকে। তারপর যখন আমি আমার পক্ষ থেকে নি‘আমত দিয়ে তাকে অনুগ্রহ করি তখন সে বলে, ‘জ্ঞানের কারণেই কেবল আমাকে তা দেয়া হয়েছে।’ বরং এটা একটি পরীক্ষা। কিন্তু তাদের অধিকাংশই তা জানে না।

It was already said by those before them[13], but all what they earned was of no avail to them,

অবশ্যই তাদের পূর্ববর্তী কাফিররাও এ ধরনের কথা বলেছিল; কিন্তু তারা যা অর্জন করেছে, তা তাদের কোন উপকারে আসেনি।

Therefore the evil consequences of their deeds overtook them, and the wrongdoers among these [pagans] will be overtaken by the evil consequences of their deeds, and they will have no escape[14].

[14] From Allah’s punishment.

ফলে তাদের (শিরক ও পাপাচার) কৃতকর্মের মন্দ পরিণতি তাদের উপর আপতিত হয়েছিল। আর এদের মধ্যে যারাই যুলম করে, তাদের ওপরেও তাদের কৃতকর্মের মন্দ পরিণতি শীঘ্রই আপতিত হবে। আর তারা (আল্লাহকে) অক্ষম করতে পারবে না।

Do they not know that Allah extends provision to whom He wills or restricts it? Indeed, there are signs in this for people who believe.

এ সব মুশরিকরা কি জানে না, আল্লাহ (পরীক্ষা করতে) যাকে ইচ্ছা করেন রিযক প্রশস্ত করে দেন আর যাকে ইচ্ছা (রিযক) সংকীর্ণ করে দেন? নিশ্চয় এতে মু’মিন সম্প্রদায়ের জন্য নিদর্শনাবলি রয়েছে।(৩০)

(৩০) অর্থাৎ রিযক প্রশস্ত বা সংকীর্ণ করে করে আল্লাহ পরীক্ষা করেন, কে তাঁর কৃতজ্ঞ হয় আর কে তাঁর অকৃতজ্ঞ হয়।

Say [Allah says], “O My slaves who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of Allah’s mercy, for indeed Allah forgives all sins[15]. He is indeed the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

[15] It is for those who repent and correct themselves, no matter how big the sins are. The only unforgivable sin in Islam is dying in disbelief in Allah or associating others with Him. See 4:48. The Prophet (ﷺ) reports that Allah Almighty says, "O children of Adam! As long as you call upon Me, putting your hope in Me, I will forgive you for what you have done, and I will not mind. O children of Adam! If your sins were to reach the clouds of the sky and then you sought My forgiveness, I would forgive you. O children of Adam! If you were to come to Me with sins filling the whole world and then you came to Me without associating partners with Me, I would certainly match your sins with forgiveness." [At-Tirmidhi]

হে রাসূল! আমার বান্দাহদেরকে বলো: ‘হে আমার বান্দাগণ! যারা (৩১) নিজেদের ওপর অবিচার করেছ, তোমরা আল্লাহর রহমত থেকে নিরাশ হয়ো না। অবশ্যই আল্লাহ সকল পাপ ক্ষমা করে দিবেন। নিশ্চয় তিনি অতি ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু।’

(৩১) শিরক ও পাপাচার করে।

Turn to your Lord [in repentance] and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you, for then you will not be helped.

আর তোমরা (৩২) তোমাদের রবের দিকে প্রত্যাবর্তন করো এবং তোমাদের ওপর শাস্তি আসার পূর্বেই তার কাছে আত্মসমর্পণ কর। অতঃপর তোমাদেরকে সাহায্য করা হবে না।(৩৩)

(৩২) তাওবা ও নেক আমালের মাধ্যমে। (৩৩) তাছাড়া তখন তোমাদের তাওবাও কবুল করা হবে না।

Follow the best of what has been sent down to you all from your Lord, before the punishment comes upon you by surprise while you are unaware,

আর তোমরা অনুসরণ কর আল কুরআনের যা তোমাদের রবের পক্ষ থেকে সর্বোত্তম বাণী হিসাবে নাযিল করা হয়েছে, তোমাদের ওপর আকস্মিকভাবে শাস্তি আসার পূর্বে; অথচ তোমরা উপলব্ধি করতে পারবে না।

lest someone should say[16], “Woe to me for neglecting my duties towards Allah and for being among those who mocked [the truth]”;

[16] On the Day of Judgment.

যাতে কাউকেও বলতে না হয়, ‘হায় আফসোস! (৩৪) আল্লাহর হক আদায়ে আমি যে শৈথিল্য করেছিলাম, তার জন্য (এ শাস্তি)। আর আমি কেবল ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রুপকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিলাম।’

(৩৪) কুফরী ও পাপাচারে লিপ্ত হয়ে।

or says, “If only Allah had guided me, I would have been among the righteous”;

অথবা যাতে কাউকে একথাও বলতে না হয়, ‘আল্লাহ যদি আমাকে হিদায়াত দিতেন, তাহলে অবশ্যই আমি মুত্তাকীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হতাম।’

or says, upon seeing the punishment, “If only I had another chance[17], I could be among those who do good.”

[17] Of the worldly life.

অথবা শাস্তি প্রত্যক্ষ করার পর যাতে কাউকে একথাও বলতে না হয়, ‘আমার যদি একবার (দুনিয়াতে) ফিরে যাওয়ার সুযোগ হত, তাহলে আমি (৩৫) সৎকর্মশীলদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হতাম।

(৩৫) তাওবা ও আমল করে।

[Allah will say,] “No indeed! My verses had already come to you, but you rejected them and acted arrogantly, and you were among the disbelievers.”

আল্লাহ বলবেনঃ হ্যাঁ, অবশ্যই তোমার কাছে আমার নিদর্শনাবলি এসেছিল, অতঃপর তুমি সেগুলোকে মিথ্যারোপ করেছিলে এবং তুমি অহংকার করেছিলে। আর তুমি কাফিরদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিলে।

On the Day of Resurrection, you will see those who lied against Allah with their faces darkened. Is there not in Hell an abode for the arrogant?

আর যারা আল্লাহর প্রতি মিথ্যারোপ করে কিয়ামতের দিন তুমি তাদের চেহারাগুলো কালো দেখতে পাবে। অহংকারীদের বাসস্থান জাহান্নামের মধ্যে নয় কি?
